The 'Tech'
All the systems noted below are controlled through the glazing of the SKYCUBE by primarily voice activation, touch detection on the outside of the glazing or gesture activation. The system can also detect colour so functions can be expanded and disabled / visually impaired can be accommodated by means of textured & coloured cards.
-
Blinds - Up/Down – Imagery blind included
-
Patient communications – Private / Population
-
Patient personal photo album
-
Patient personal music collection
-
Patient video conferencing with family / judiciary
-
Intercom – Two-way video intercom
-
Lighting On - Off
-
Shower on [Timer shuts off]
-
Toilet flush [Set number of flushes per hour]
-
TV/Monitor - On/off & volume up/down
-
All these functions able to be overridden from the control centre.
-
Many more functions can be incorporated into this system for example behavioral monitoring [scale bar], tutoring and games, rear projection etc.
TV One - New Zealand image and video clip showing a classic situation with allowing inmates out to adhere to their rights, but by doing so, the guards are put at risk.

With SkyCube telephone calls can be allowed for the inmate without them leaving the cell and can be totally controlled from the prison managers office. The inmate uses voice activation, until it is switched off by management.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
Option- Patient or inmate behavior and attitude is passively measured by the facility staff and levels of functionality of the interactive system is added to or curtailed depending on their behavior.
The patient or inmate is kept informed all the time of the staffs’ passive measurement of their behavior by the green to red bar on their monitor. If functionality is taken away, they can reflect on why. This process must be fair, transparent and reasonable.
MORE DETAIL: The patient has access to multiple functions via 3 major interchangeable and customizable systems that form part of the SkyCube software management system. A fourth means of access is via embossed [braille] colour cards, gestured in front of the gesture camera.

Voice activation is the primary access means to the ‘TV’ monitor with its programmed functions, using a voice activation protocol “SkyCube..…” Voice controls almost all functions in the room thus allowing the inmate, even physically or visually impaired or restricted inmates, incredible ease of access, when their SkyCube is programmed to do so. This access is customised to that inmates’ profile, allowing or not allowing access to various functions. E.G. –Lights on/off; blinds up/down [restricted times per day]; TV on/off; Intercom ”SkyCube, please call guard” for example; Music on/Off, Set Alarm clock; etc.
-
The ‘through Glass’ touch sensor system allow for the more mundane ‘single’ operation activities, for example – Flush toilet, turn shower on/off.
-
Gesture sensor system can be programmed for up to 8 other functions if required, recognizes colour too and all coordinated by the SkyCube Software.
The services for the toilet and shower systems all form part of the SkyCube package.
The control of the toilet flush, shower and basin water are all '' through the glass' or panel actions.
Option - Each SkyCube can have its own subfloor mini septic tank with drug sensors, so no drug contraband can be flushed / washed away and drug residue will be detected in sewerage, cell specifically.
A detection results in the cell's tank shutting down and a signal sent to staff.
